Empowering Students Through Service & Leadership

At Shakespeare Matriculation School, we believe in nurturing not just academic excellence but also character, leadership, and social responsibility. Our student movements — YSM, Junior Red Cross, and Scouts & Guides — provide platforms for students to serve society, develop life skills, and grow into compassionate citizens.

Student Movements & Organisations

Discover the various student movements that help shape responsible, compassionate, disciplined, and socially committed individuals.

Young Student Movement (YSM)

The Young Student Movement (YSM) encourages students to become socially responsible, compassionate, and committed individuals. Through service-oriented activities, awareness programmes, and leadership opportunities, students develop teamwork, empathy, confidence, and a spirit of helping others.
The movement aims to:
  • Build leadership qualities and decision-making skills
  • Promote social responsibility and civic awareness
  • Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect
  • Develop moral values, discipline, and positive attitudes
  • Inspire students to participate in community service and social outreach activities
YSM helps students understand the importance of serving society and becoming responsible citizens who contribute positively to their community and nation.

Junior Red Cross (JRC)

The Junior Red Cross instills humanitarian values among students by encouraging them to serve society with kindness, compassion, responsibility, and a spirit of voluntary service. The programme creates awareness about health, hygiene, safety, and community welfare while nurturing empathy and concern for others.
Major activities include:
  • Health and hygiene awareness programmes
  • First aid and emergency response training
  • Community service and social welfare initiatives
  • Environmental protection and cleanliness campaigns
  • Blood donation awareness and public health education
  • Character building and humanitarian service activities
Through JRC, students learn the values of compassion, cooperation, service, and responsible citizenship, preparing them to become caring individuals who are sensitive to the needs of society.

Scouts & Guides

The Scouts & Guides movement plays a vital role in developing discipline, leadership, self-reliance, patriotism, and service-mindedness among students. It provides practical learning experiences that help students become confident, responsible, and resourceful individuals.
Students actively participate in:
  • Leadership development and personality enhancement programmes
  • Outdoor learning activities and adventure programmes
  • Community service and social responsibility projects
  • Camping, hiking, and survival skill training
  • Team-building exercises and group activities
  • Participation in national festivals, rallies, and awareness programmes
  • Environmental conservation and tree-planting initiatives
The Scouts & Guides programme encourages students to live with discipline, courage, cooperation, and a sense of duty toward society. It prepares them to become confident leaders, responsible citizens, and socially committed individuals who contribute positively to the nation and the world around them.
